RPG and IED attacks on Turkish military vehicles | Soldier injured in Idlib countryside

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that a Turkish soldier was injured, and taken to the field medical post in Al-Mastuma, as an armoured vehicle of Turkish forces was targeted by an RPG by unknown assailants, coinciding with the explosion of an IED on the road between Ma’rat Misrin and the town of Kafrya in Idlib countryside.

SOHR sources have just reported that an IED planted by unknown persons exploded on the road between Ma’rat Misrin and the town of Kafraya, coinciding with the passage of a Turkish column, causing material damage.

In the meantime, Turkish forces and factions’ members have deployed in the area to secure roads and search for other IEDs.

On February 10, SOHR sources confirmed that a landmine exploded near a Turkish vehicle, as three armoured vehicles were conducting a routine patrol on M4 highway between the areas of Uram Al-Jouz and Ariha in Idlib countryside. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, an organization known as “Al-Tali’a Al-Mujaheda” claimed responsibility of the attack on the Turkish vehicle, as it published pictures showing the explosions.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had documented the killing of a Turkish officer, who was in charge of the engineering and landmines section in the Turkish army in the city of Al-Bab in eastern Aleppo countryside. The officer was killed while he was dismantling an IED which was intended to detonate at the entrance to the headquarters of “al-Hamza Division” in the old agriculture building in the city.

It is worth noting that this is the second person of Turkish forces killed on Syrian soil in 2021.

The Syrian Observatory documented the death of a soldier of the Turkish forces of wounds he sustained a few days ago, following an armed attack on a Turkish post in western countryside of Idlib. SOHR sources reported on January 31 that unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on the outpost of a Turkish military post in Abu Al-Zubayr area near Muhambel town on Aleppo-Latakia international highway “M4” in western Idlib. The attack left two Turkish soldiers injured.
