After the killing of two IRGC leaders in landmine explosion in eastern Deir ez-Zor desert | Iranian-backed militias set up funeral reception tent in Al-Mayadeen

Deir ez-Zor province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the death of the official in overall charge of the heavy weapons and the official of the training camps of the militias loyal to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, of Iranian nationalities, as they entered in the minefield about two days ago in the area of Mjabal al-Zaft in the desert of the town of Al-Ashara in the eastern countryside of Deir ezzor, where the Islamic State is active.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the Iranian militia leadership in Al-Mayadeen city has set up a funeral reception tent for them in the al-Tamou neighbourhood in the city, while military and tribal figures came to offer condolences.

On March 16, reliable SOHR sources from Deir ez-Zor countryside said that a leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard of Iranian nationality was killed along with his companion, who is also an Iranian national, as a result of the explosion of a landmine in Al-Mayadeen desert in eastern Deir ez-Zor, in areas where the Islamic State is active.

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,358 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 149 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa.

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, 11 shepherds and four other people were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 854 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
