To evade the Russians | Regime security services entrust to the “Criminal Security” branch in eastern Ghouta the arrest of regime opponents

Rif Dimashq Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources have reported that regime security services recently entrust to the “Criminal Security” branch the arrest of wanted individuals, who participated in the uprising or worked in civil institutions affiliated with the opposition in eastern Ghouta in Rif Dimashq, before the displacement of the opposition factions. According to SOHR sources, the Syrian regime’s security services have referred the files of many detainees to the “Criminal Security” branch, so that they can evade the Russians’ requests, especially with the appeals by detainees’ families to the Russian police to set the detainees free or disclose their fate. Accordingly, the opposition detainees will not be allowed to be released under the pretext that “they are involved in criminal cases not political ones”.

On February 20, SOHR sources said that the regime “Military Police” continued their military conscription campaign in eastern Ghouta, Damascus, as they deployed makeshift checkpoints on side streets and main roads, stopping passers-by and arresting those who did not perform mandatory service and those wanted for reserve military service.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, regime security members targeted people awaiting in queues in front of bread bakeries in the areas of Saqba, Jisrin, Hamouria, Kafr Batna and Hazza, arresting 57 young men wanted for mandatory and reserve conscription.
