After shelling US military base | Explosions rock al-Mayadeen city, while Iranian-backed militias redeploy in residential neighbourhoods

SOHR activists have reported hearing loud explosions in al-Mayadeen city which is under the control of Iranian forces in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, along with flights by International Coalition aircraft over the region. It is not clear yet whether these explosions were caused by Coalition airstrikes or by rockets fired by Americans stationed at al-Omar oil field.

SOHR activists have also monitored the withdrawal of Iranian militias from the areas which were shelled, including south al-Mayadeen city, and redeployed in residential neighbourhoods in the city

SOHR activists have just reported that several artillery shells hit al-Omar oil field and the field’s residences in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where a US military base is located, which caused material damage and burned down some cars at the targeted site, but no casualties were reported so far.

SOHR sources reported that Iranian militia stationed in west Euphrates region in the countryside of Deir Ezzor targeted the American military base.

On the other hand, US and Coalition reconnaissance drones were seen flying over the region

This development came hours after American forces had shelled positions and gatherings of Iranian militias on the Syria-Iraq border.
