Dismissed a few days after “Syrian Revolution” sparkled | Former governor of Daraa passes away

SOHR activists have reported that Daraa’s former governor “Faisal Ahmed Kalthoum” died on Monday, September 27, in mysterious circumstances.

 

“Kalthoum” had held important positions in the regime since the era of Hafez al-Assad, where he was a professor at the Law Faculty in Damascus University and was the author of several books, and he joined Ba’ath party during the massacres of Hama city to which he belonged.

 

“Kalthoum” had held several positions, including a member of the Administration office of the National Union for Syrian students in Damascus University, a member in Ba’ath party leadership in Damascus University, head of the professors’ syndicate in Damascus University, member in Parliament, head of the Constitutional Committee, head of Strategic Studies Center, member of the Central Committee of Ba’ath party and a governor of Daraa before he was dismissed by the regime after nearly 15 days from the demonstrations in Daraa, and he witnessed the regime’s atrocities against Daraa residents.

 

It is worth noting that “al-Kalthoum” hailed from al-Mab’ouja village in al-Sallamiya countryside in Hama countryside.
