Regime-held areas | Fuel price hike prompts increase in transportation fares and commodity prices

SOHR sources have reported new increase in prices of basic products in regime-held area following the hike of state-subsidized fuel prices, which also worsened the transportation crisis.

According to Syrian Observatory activists, the price of state-subsidized petrol has reached 1,100 SYL per litre, while the owners of private cars can get only 20 litres of petrol at state-subsidized price each week.

 

SOHR sources have reported a list of the new prices of essential products in regime-controlled areas as follows:

 

 

Food supplies

 

  • Long rice: 3,800 SYL / $1.078 per kilo

 

  • Short rice: 2,800 SYL /$0.749 per kilo

 

  • Flour: 2,600 SYL /$1.034per kilo

 

  • Sugar: 2,800 SYL /$0.749 per kilo

 

  • Bulgur: 2,000 SYL /$0.567 per kilo

 

  • Lentil: 1,800 SYL /$0.511 per kilo

 

  • Milled Lentil: 2,000 SYL /$0.567 per kilo

 

  • Chickpeas: 2,000 SYL /$0.567 per kilo

 

  • Tea: 25,000 SYL /$0.709 per kilo

 

  • Coffee: 27,000 SYL /$10.746per kilo

 

  • Sunflower oil: 9,000 SYL / $2.553 per litre

 

  • Ghee: 1,000 SYL / $0.398 per twokilo

 

  • Eggs: 9,000 SYL / $3.582per pack

 

  • Halawa: 7,500 SYL / $2.128 per pack

    Vegetables and fruit

 

  • Tomatoes: 800 SYL / $0.227 per kilo
  • Cucumber: 1,800 SYL / $0.511 per kilo
  • Potatoes: 2,000 SYL / $0.796per kilo

 

  • Red onion: 800 SYL / $0.227 per kilo

 

  • Garlic: 10,000 SYL / $2.837 per kilo
  • Lemon: 2,000 SYL / $0.567 per kilo

 

  • Courgettes: 1,600 SYL / $0.454 per kilo

 

  • Beans: 4,000 SYL / $1.135 per kilo

 

  • Apple: 1,200 SYL / $0.34 per kilo

It is worth noting that the prices of these commodities change from one area to another because of the levies imposed by regime checkpoints on the merchants and trucks transporting goods.
