Iranian militias alert on anniversary of Sulaimani’s death | International Coalition conducts trainings in its largest base in Syria

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have monitored a high security alert among International Coalition forces in Al-Omar field, which is the biggest International Coalition military base in north-eastern Syria, on the anniversary of the death of Qasem Sulaimani, the leader of Al-Quds legion.

This coincided with military exercises in the base, where artillery shells and missiles were fired towards unknown positions believed to be held by Iranian militias in Deir Ezzor desert.

On the other hand, SOHR monitored security high alert among Iranian militias in their areas in fear of being targeted.

On December 31, SOHR activists reported that two shells hit the vicinity of “Koniko” gas field, which is used by International Coalition as military base in Deir Ezzor countryside.

According to SOHR sources, shells source were from regime-held and Iranian militia’s positions in Deir Ezzor countryside.

On the same context, the artillery stationed in the vicinity of “International Coalition” base near “Koniko” gas field shelled source of fire in regime-held areas and Iranian militias with several shells, but no casualties were reported yet.

While on December 13, SOHR activists reported hearing loud consecutive explosions in the vicinity of Al-Omar oil field, which is used by the International Coalition as military base in eastern Deir Ezzor.

According to SOHR sources, the International Coalition forces run military training (exercises) in the vicinity of the base, where smoke plumes rose.
