“Peace Spring” area | Landmine explosion kills smuggler of Turkish-backed factions

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported that a member of the Turkish-backed Jaysh Al-Sharqiyyah was killed in the explosion of a landmine planted earlier by unknown individuals, while he was escorting several civilians on a route used for smuggling between “Peace Spring” area and Turkey.

On December 27, Observatory sources reported a dispute over routes used by smugglers for helping people sneak into SDF-held areas from Turkish-backed factions has erupted between two commanders of the “Al-Moatasim division and Ahrar Al-Sharqiya” in Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) city in “Peace Spring” areas

According to Syrian Observatory sources, a dispute broken out as gunmen from Al-Mutasim division burned a car of Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah commander that used for smuggling, in Hawarneh neighbourhood in Ras Al-Ain city.

It is noteworthy that National Army factions were engaged in smuggling people and goods between areas under their control and that of other forces in Syria, as they take huge sums of money.

Ankara factions-held areas already witnessed violent clashes between factions, which have left victims due to disputes over smuggling routes and sharing of levies and profits.
