Al-Hasakah | SDF and Asayish forces carry out large-scale security crackdown in Al-Shaddadi area

Syrian Democratic Forces and Asayish Internal Security Forces have begun a large scale security crackdown in Al-Shaddadi area, south of Al-Hasakah since the early hours of Saturday morning, raiding many houses and arresting nearly 40 people on charges of “dealing with and belonging to ISIS.”

On March 6, SOHR sources reported that an SDF patrol stormed Abu Hamam town in eastern Deir Ezzor, after blocking all entrances of the town. The patrol’s members stormed the houses of people who had clashes with a patrol of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) last week, which led to the death of an Asayish member at that time. During the security campaign, the patrol members and some suspects traded fire, before the house of one of the suspects was set on fire while others were arrested.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the military forces have cordoned off all villages and towns in Al-Shaddadi area and deployed in the city centre.
