Third incident of its kind in a month | Unknown gunmen in security uniforms loot money and possession in house in Al-Hasakah

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported that four gunmen in security uniforms have stormed the house of a civilian in the SDF-controlled village of Nabu’a in Al-Qamishli countryside in Al-Hasakah province, where they loot a sum of money of an estimated 21 million SYL, a mobile phone and wi-fi devices, before they escaped left the village.

It is worth noting that this is the third incident of its kind in less than a month, as SOHR activists had reported two other incidents in which unknown gunmen pretended to be members of military formations with the aim of loot personal properties and kidnap individuals and then ask for ransoms.

On March 2, Observatory sources reported that unidentified gunmen in military uniforms kidnapped a civilian in Ogharit neighbourhood in Al-Hasakah city on the previous day. According to SOHR sources, the gunmen stormed the house of the civilian who worked as a goldsmith, claiming that he was a security suspect, where they took the civilian to unknown place. The kidnappers later communicated with the civilian’s family, asking for a ransom of 100,000 USD for his release.

Similarly, on February 23, unidentified gunmen in military uniforms stormed a house in Kababah neighbourhood in Al-Hasakah city, kidnapping a civilian, before they communicated with his family and brother, who is a car dealer, asking for a ransom of 60,000 USD in return for his release. The kidnappers, who claimed that they were ISIS members, threatened to behead the man, if the family refused to pay the ransom. However, it is not known if the kidnappers were already ISIS members or not.

It is worth noting that the kidnapped man was released, after his family had paid the requested ransom in Al-Hawl town in Al-Hasakah countryside.
