Recurrent event | Pro-regime individuals block US patrol in Al-Qamishli countryside

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that pro-regime individuals from the regime-controlled villages of Tel Al-Dhahab, Mushayrifah Kaberah and Salihiyah in the southern countryside of Al-Qamishli, backed by members of regime checkpoints, have blocked a US military patrol and prevented it from passing through their areas. Recently, such incidents are repeated almost daily.

On Wednesday, reliable sources informed SOHR that regime loyalists and members of the regime-backed National Defence Forces NDF blocked US patrols escorted by helicopters in the villages of Hamu, Al-Qusayr and Mas’adah in Al-Qamishli countryside. It is worth noting that the US patrols left the region, while no skirmishes were reported.

A day earlier, SOHR sources reported that regime soldiers stationed at a checkpoint at the junction of Salihiyah village in Al-Qamishli countryside blocked a US patrol of five armoured vehicles. Moreover, children from the village pelted the US vehicles with stones, before the patrol left the region.

A few hours earlier, SOHR activists reported that members of the National Defence Forces stationed at a checkpoint in Tel Al-Dhahab village in Al-Qamishli countryside blocked a US patrol touring the area, prevented it from crossing and forced it to change its course. However, no skirmishes erupted.
