Two separate incidents | Gunman Killed while Planting IED in Military Intelligence commander’s car, while Fourth Division member shot dead in Daraa

SOHR sources have reported that two gunmen had attempted to plant an IED in a vehicle of a commander of the Military Intelligence Branch near the government compound in Daraa city, but they were detected by the commander’s escort and clashes erupted between them.

This clash has left a gunman killed, the other gunman managed to flee and a woman, who was at the scene of the incident, injured.

In a related context, unidentified gunmen shot dead a “Fourth Division” member near Jassim city in the western countryside of Daraa.

 

Since early 2022, the number of attacks in Daraa province has risen to 215, which left 171 people dead; and they are as follows:

• 83 civilians, including two women and four children.

• 69 regime military personnel, “collaborators” with security services and members with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

• Ten former fighters who did not join any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals.

• An ex-ISIS member.

• Six unidentified people.

• A Russian-backed militiaman.
