Syria-Turkey border | Turkish Jandarma targets shepherds and kills number of sheep in Al-Hasakah countryside

Al-Hasakah province: Turkish border guards “Jandarma” have targeted shepherds in Haji Matari village in Al-Malikiyah countryside adjacent to the Turkish border in Al-Hasakah province, leaving a number of sheep dead.

It is worth noting that Turkish border guards are preventing Syrian civilians in border areas from approaching the border strip, to combat human smuggling into Turkey.

On May 12, SOHR activists documented the death of a young man who was shot dead by Turkish border guards “Jandarma” as he tried to cross the border from Ain Dewar border village with Turkey in Al-Malikiyah “Derek” area in Al-Hasakah countryside. The victim’s body was transferred to national hospital in Derek.

Accordingly, the number of civilians who have been killed by Turkish Border Guards (Jandarma) in several areas near and on Syria-Turkey border since early 2022 has risen to 12, including three children, while 20 other civilians were injured including three children.
