Protests against assault on medical staff | Closure of Al-Shahil Hospital in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have monitored the closure of Al-Shahil Hospital in Deir Ezzor countryside by orders of the hospital administration, following protests against an assault on medical staff, without knowing the reasons.

The hospital administration could decide on transported the assaulted staff outside of Syria in the coming days, according to reliable SOHR sources.

On May 31, SOHR activists reported that the administration of Al-Basira Public hospital in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside went on a strike, protesting after an auditor assaulted a doctor working in the hospital, after the doctor demanded his permission to enter the hospital, where he responded with insults and hit him in the head with his shoes.

Moreover, other civilians assaulted a nurse in the hospital, where a female doctor protested against that assault and went on a strike.

The hospital supports Action for Humanity organization.

SOHR activists reported that a group of residents of Al-Basira city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, attacked the building of the Central Area Council in the city and clashed with the guards, for “not receiving diesel licenses”. However, no casualties were reported.
