Backed by Russian helicopters | Regime forces and Iranian-backed militias carry out combing campaign in Al-Suwaydaa desert all the way to Al-Hammad desert at Syria-Iraq- Jordan border triangle

Regime forces, backed by Iranian-backed militias and Russian helicopters, have carried out a new combing campaign in search of ISIS cells in Al-Suwaydaa desert and down to Al-Hammad desert at Syria-Iraq-Jordan border triangle.

In a related context, regime forces and their proxies have begun a combing campaign in the vicinity of Safyan field in Al-Tabqah desert in Al-Raqqah countryside, with the participation of Russian forces, to clear mines and IEDs.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that ISIS cells attacked a number of military vehicles of Afghan “Fatimyioun” militia at the eastern entrance to Al-Sokhnah city on Deir Ezzor-Palmyra international highway.

This attack has left casualties, according to Syrian Observatory sources.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) tracked and monitored the unprecedented escalation of ISIS attacks in June 2022, documenting 11 operations by ISIS cells. These operations left heavy casualties.

SOHR documented the killing of 42 regime soldiers and loyalists and the injury of 31 others.

Moreover, SOHR documented the killing of a civilian and the injury of 14 others.

While ISIS lost 19 members in clashes with regime forces and Russian airstrikes on ISIS hideouts.

The area sees the deployment of “Fatimyioun” militiamen, regime forces and brings in military reinforcements following the attack.
