After SOHR published news of his death | Iranian “Revolutionary Guards” admits the death of one of their commanders

Iran authorities have admitted the death of a commander of the Iranian “Revolutionary Guards” called “Mostafa Mahdofiny Nijad”, days after SOHR published news of his death, where he was targeted by a landmine explosion planted by ISIS cells on July 6, in Mahin area in eastern Homs countryside.

On the other hand, the Iranian “Revolutionary Guards” mourned the death of the commander Nijad “while he was carrying out his duty defending the shrines in Syria”, according to their description.

On July 6, SOHR activists reported that a landmine planted by ISIS cells exploded targeting a military vehicle of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards militias near Mahin city in eastern Homs countryside, leading to the death of one member and injury of three others, and they were transported to Mahin Hospital.

SOHR sources reported that ISIS cells have attacked a number of military vehicles of Afghan “Fatimyioun” militia at the eastern entrance to Al-Sokhnah city on Deir Ezzor-Palmyra international highway.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2022 has increased to 264; and they are as follows:

• 119 ISIS members were killed in Russian airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the deserts of Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama, Al-Raqqah, Deir Ezzor, and Aleppo.

• 144 soldiers of regime forces and their proxy militias were killed in 50 operations by ISIS members, including ambushes, armed attacks, and explosions, in western Euphrates and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.
