“National Army” factions in Afrin | Detainee released after paying ransoms and civilians kidnapped in different areas

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah faction kidnapped a civilian displaced from Al-Qonaitara province in Al-Mahmodiyah neighbourhood in Afrin city, while he was exiting the mosque, and opened fire in the air to intimidate civilians and took him to an unknown destination.

On the other hand, members of a Civil Police patrol arrested a civilian from Aghjala village in Jinderes district in Afrin countryside for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration”, to collect ransoms.

Moreover, members of a Military Police patrol arrested a civilian from Shiran district in Afrin countryside for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration”, and released him later after his parents paid 2,000 Turkish Liras as ransoms.

Earlier today, SOHR activists reported that a military police patrol arrested a civilian from Afrin on July 25 for “joining YPG” during Kurdish forces’ control over Afrin.

While on July 23, military police arrested two civilians from Zirka village in Raju district for “going out in guard shifts and formerly joining community protection forces in Afrin city.”
