Amid threats to kill complainants | “National Army” factions continue felling olive trees and harvest in Afrin city

Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported that factions of the Turkish-backed “National Army” in Afrin city continue looting olive harvest and felling trees to sell them on markets for financial gains.

In this context, members of Sultan Murad faction felled hundreds of olive trees in Maydanki village in Sharran district in Afrin countryside, and they sold the trees on Afrin markets. The trees belong to five civilians from the village.

Moreover, members of Jaysh Al-Nukhbah faction took over the harvest of nearly 200 trees by force in Naza village in Sharran district in Afrin countryside. The trees belong to a woman from the village, who filed an official complaint against the faction’s members. However, the militiamen threatened to kill the woman and fell trees, if she filled new complaints against them.

Similarly, members of Al-Sham Corps, led by a man known by his initials as M. A. K. who hails from eastern Ghouta in Rif Dimashq, felled nearly 900 olive trees in Basofan and Kafr Nebu in Sherawa district in Afrin countryside and smuggled them to Kafr Nebl and Al-Zahraa in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which are dominated by Iranian-backed militias. The trees belong to four civilians from the two villages.

As a part of the ongoing violations against civilian properties in Afrin city and countryside, SOHR sources have reported that a member of Jaysh Al-Islam faction from eastern Ghouta in Rif Dimashq sold five houses in Al-Ashrafiyyah neighbourhood in Afrin city for 1,000 USD each. Also, a member of Sultan Murad faction sold a house in Al-Mahmoudiyyah neighbourhood in Afrin city for 1,200 USD.
