Following protests | Turkish Minister of Interior Affairs cancels visit to Idlib

The Turkish Minister (Suleiman Suwailo) canceled his planned visit to the Syrian north with a delegation of Turkish officials, to open a new compound of camps in Sarmada area in northern Idlib countryside, established by Turkish organizations.

This comes after the public protests rejecting the Turkish rapprochement, in areas of north western of Syria.

The Turkish Minister of Internal Affairs was supposed to visit the Syrian north on January 8, where the visit was delayed to an unknown date.

On January 6, SOHR sources reported that areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and Turkish-backed factions in Idlib, Aleppo and Al-Raqqah experienced public protests, where angry protestors condemned the meeting between Turkish and Syrian officials and rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus and expressed their rejection of the reconciliation of Al-Assad’s regime. The protests took place in Jisr Al-Shughour city in western Idlib and surrounding villages, Taftnaz, Atmah, the camps of Al-Karamah, Killi and other areas in Idlib countryside, Qabaseen, Azaz, Al-Ra’i Al-Bab and Suran in the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo and Tel Abyad in the northern countryside Al-Raqqah.
