Thefts and chaos in regime-held areas | Unidentified persons steal heating diesel allocations from school in Homs city centre

Homs province: In the early hours of Monday morning, unidentified persons stormed a school and stole heating diesel allocations and a number of heaters from “Brij Al-Bureij” school in the Armenian district of Homs city centre.

According to SOHR activists, the robbery took place one day after the announcement of the start of the second semester of 2022-2023. This comes in light of rampant security chaos in the areas controlled by the regime and the failure of security authorities to curb the spread of theft.

Reactions varied among the parents of the students, some of them see that the school guard is responsible for the theft through collusion with the thieves, while a large segment of residents of Homs city see that the regime government is responsible for the worsening fuel crisis as civilians are unable to secure fuel and diesel for heating to their children.

It is worth noting that Homs city experiences a marked deterioration in the living and economic conditions that coincide with the high incidence of theft and burglary of people’s properties.

Last week, a resident of A’krimah neighbourhood was broken and bruised in various areas of his body after a thief on a motorcycle tried to snatch his bag on Al-Hadarah street. The man was transferred to a hospital for the necessary treatment. The thief fled without knowing his identity.
