Having been repatriated by Lebanese authorities | Many displaced Syrians brutally tortured by 4th Division

Violations continues by the Lebanese army and security services against displaced Syrians, including arbitrary arrests and handing displaced Syrians in to regime forces. A displaced Syrian civilian, who had been deported from Lebanon and handed over to the regime-backed 4th Division, has told off his story to SOHR, before returning to Lebanon again with the help of smugglers in return for money.

The man said, “the Lebanese security services arrested many displaced Syrians and took them to a detention centre for a whole night. On the following day, the Syrians were handed over to the 4th Division near Tel Kalakh area near the Syria-Lebanon border where they were brutally tortured, beaten with sticks and electric wires, humiliated and verbally abused. The 4th Division members later allowed the detained Syrians to return to Lebanon with the help of smugglers after taking 300 USD from each one, while many remained in the custody of the 4th Division, as they were unable to pay the requested sums of money.”

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that the General Lebanese Security arrested dozens of Syrian refugees on Thursday (the eve of Eid Al-Fitr) during random raids in Borj Hamod area in the Lebanese capital Beirut and Qada’a Al-Shawf area in Lebanon under the pretext that the refugees committed robberies, to pressure Syrians and force them to leave the country. According to reliable SOHR sources, 117 Syrians (42 women, 70 children, 65 men) were arrested, where a whole Syrian family suffered from thalassemia. The Lebanese Security Forces moved the detainees to a position near the borders between Syria and Lebanon and left them there, to pressure them to leave Lebanon.
