Homs | Remarkable security deployment in city and its main entrances by members of regime’s intelligence

Yesterday, Homs city witnessed a deployment of security patrols of the regime’s intelligence branches, amid a campaign of searching and checking the names of the passers-by, by the members of the patrols for unannounced reasons.
SOHR activists have reported that a joint security patrol arrived at the “Sugar Factory” checkpoint, at the northern entrance of Homs city, in which members of the aerial intelligence are stationed, and they began to stop all the cars that wanted to entre the city, so that the names of passengers and owners of private cars could be checked before being allowed to enter the city.
SOHR sources confirmed that members of the intelligence branch stationed at “Palmyra roundabout” checkpoint, the main entrance of Homs city from south, on Homs-Damascus highway, took the same step, what led to queues of cars, whose owners were forced to stop for hours before being able to pass the checkpoint.
On a related context, neighbourhoods of Homs city (Al-Zahraa, Al-Setin street, Al-Raeis roundabout, Al-Ahram road, Bab Al-Sebaa neighbourhood and Bab Al-Derib neighbourhood) witnessed a remarkable presence of security patrols.
Local sources from the Al-Zahraa neighborhood in the center of Homs city – who refused to reveal their identity for security reasons – suggested that there is news about the possibility of a popular movement by the residents of the city, to demand improving the living situation after the deterioration of the local currency against the exchange rate of the rest of the currencies caused the inability of a large category of residents within regime-held areas to secure their livelihood.
A group of people living in the Syrian coastal provinces, who call themselves (10 August Group) threatened to start the peaceful movement in the face of the corruption which the Syrian regime institutions approach, and called on all of the residents of the provinces that are controlled by Al-Assad regime to coordinate with them in building a peaceful protest movement to express the deterioration of the living situation and exacerbating of economic crisis they are suffering from
