Having been brutally tortured by Turkish Jandarma | Civilian dies in Al-Hasakah countryside after attempting to sneak into Turkey

A young man from Al-Quneitra province died of his sever injuries which he had sustained when he was brutally tortured and cruelly beaten by Turkish border guards (Jandarma) on the Syria-Turkey border, as he was attempting to sneak into Turkey from Ras Al-Ain countryside in northern Al-Hasakah. The young man sustained fractures and went into a coma, before he died today affected by his injuries.

 

It is worth noting that Syrian people are struggling with disastrous living conditions which have spurred many to risk their safety and lives by sneak into neighbouring countries, with the help of smugglers and through dangerous roads, seeking a safe haven.

 

Accordingly, the number of civilians killed by Turkish border guards (Jandarma) since early 2023 in different areas near the Syria-Turkey border has increased to 21. In addition, 36 civilians, including a child and three women, were injured in gunfire by Turkish Jandarma in the same period. The fatalities are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Areas controlled by “Peace Spring” operations room: 11 men in Al-Hasakah and a man in Al-Raqqah.

 

  • Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib countryside: Five men.

 

  • Areas controlled by “Euphrates Shield” operations room in north Aleppo countryside: Three men.

 

  • SDF-controlled areas: A child in Al-Hasakah.
