Old ordnance | Two young men severely injured in landmine explosion in eastern Aleppo countryside

Aleppo province: Two young men were severely injured due to the explosion of an old landmine near Handarat area in eastern Aleppo countryside within regime-held area, where they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

It is worth noting that war remnants are prevalent over large geographical areas across Syria, amid inaction by authorities and local organisations which have exerted no efforts to remove them.

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 215 civilians, including 18 women and 64 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2023. In addition, over 262 civilians, including 88 children and 14 women, sustained various injuries.
The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:
Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib: Three fatalities; including a child, and 17 injured civilians, including ten children and a woman.
Regime-controlled areas: 181 fatalities, including 41 children and 15 women, and 201 injured civilians, including 47 children and nine women. There are 89 truffle pickers died, including two children and ten women, and 109 others injured.
“Euphrates Shield” area in east Aleppo countryside: Four fatality, four children, and ten injured people: a woman and nine children.
SDF-held areas: 26 fatalities, including 17 children and three women, and 29 injured civilians, including 21 children and a woman. There are two truffle pickers among the fatalities and a little truffle picker among the injured people.
“Peace Spring” area in north Al-Raqqah countryside: A child was killed and another was injured.
“Olive Branch” area: Four injured including two women.
