ISIS resurgence | Three members of SDF killed in attack by ISIS cells, targeting military positions in Al-Hawa’aj town in eastern Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: Three members of SDF were killed in armed attack by unidentified gunmen believed to be of ISIS, targeting military positions of SDF in Al-Hawa’aj town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, amid a state of panic among civilians and the closure of some shops in Al-Haal market which is near the targeted site.

SOHR has documented 139 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2023. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 98 persons dead:

• 21 civilians.

• 72 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

• One unidentified man.

• Four ISIS member.

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

• Al-Raqqah: 16 attacks left 15 combatants and two civilians dead.

• Deir Ezzor: 106 attacks left 19 civilians, an unidentified man, 44 combatants and two ISIS members, including an Iraqi commander, dead.

• Aleppo: Three attacks left seven combatants, including commanders, dead.

• Al-Hasakah: 14 attacks left six combatants and two ISIS members dead and others injured
