Russian airstrikes | IS*IS cells attack position in Palmyra and ki*ll five members

ISIS cells launched an armed attack on a military position, where regime forces and Iran-backed gunmen are stationed near the third station in Palmyra Desert in eastern Homs countryside, where clashes erupted with medium and light weapons, before ISIS cells withdrew towards the depth of the Syrian Desert, where five unidentified people were killed.

Meanwhile, Russian warplanes carried out airstrikes on positions in Palmyra Desert that are believed to shelter ISIS cells.

This is the second operation for ISIS cells in February, while 27 operations were held in January.

Yesterday, two regime soldiers were killed and six others were injured in a surprise attack unleashed by ISIS cells on regime positions near Al-Rasafah fortress in southern Al-Raqqah.

Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets carried out several airstrikes in the region.

The regime casualties were taken to the military hospital in Deir Ezzor city.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2024 has increased to 86; and they are as follows:

• Nine ISIS members were killed by regime forces and their proxy militias.

• 69 members of regime forces and their proxy militias, including eight Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen, were killed in 29 operations by ISIS members, including ambushes, armed attacks, and explosions, in west Euphrates region and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs.

• Eight civilians, including a child, were killed in attacks by ISIS in the Syrian desert.

Here is a regional distribution of ISIS attacks:

-Deir Ezzor desert: 11 operations left 27 fatalities:

• 25 combatants, including four Iranian-backed militiamen.

• Two ISIS members.

-Homs desert: 12 operations left 39 fatalities:

• 29 combatants, including one Iranian-backed militiaman.

• Four ISIS members.

• Five unidentified people.

• One civilian.

-Al-Raqqah desert: Three operations left 14 fatalities:

• 11 combatants.

• Three ISIS members.

-Hama desert: Two operations left eight fatality:

• One combatant.

• Seven civilians, including a child.

-Aleppo: One operation left three Iranian-backed militiamen dead.
