For “refusing to pay zakat” | IS*IS threatens to shoot a civilian in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: Two gunmen of ISIS opened fire on a vehicle of a civilian, who owns a lathe shop, in Abriha Town in northern Deir Ezzor countryside within SDF-held areas, before the gunmen fled to an unknown destination and the civilians was not hit.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the attack came as a warning to the civilian by members of ISIS, after he refused to pay zakat.

SOHR has documented 50 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 26 fatalities:
• 14 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
• Three ISIS member.
• Four civilians.
• Four guards working with the Autonomous Administration.

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

• Deir Ezzor: 39 attacks left nine combatants, one member of ISIS and three civilians dead.

• Al-Hasakah: Six attacks left three combatants, one civilian and two ISIS members dead.

• Al-Raqqah: Five attacks left three combatants and four guards working with the Autonomous Administration dead.
