About two years after similar attack | “ISIS” cells attack security centre of Internal Security Forces in Al-Raqqah

Three members of “ISIS” cells attacked a centre of the Internal Security Forces “Asayish” and an SDF centre in the western part of Al-Raqqah city, which is considered a security area. As a result, armed clashes with machineguns erupted between both sides, which resulted in the death of two members of Syrian Democratic Forces and the injury of one of the attackers, while the rest fled to an unknown destination.
The attack also resulted in the injury of a young civilian while he was at the centre to apply for membership.
Accordingly, the military forces in the region were mobilized and imposed a security cordon to pursue the fugitives. It is worth noting that this attack came two years after the “ISIS” attack on a security centre in Al-Raqqah.
In a second attack, an SDF member was injured in an armed targeting by “ISIS” cells, where he was targeted with machineguns in Al-Hessan town in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, while the attackers fled to an unknown destination.
SDF-held areas are witnessing a remarkable increase in the activity of “ISIS” cells, through launching attacks and operations against “SDF” positions.
SOHR has documented 70 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 35 fatalities:
