“De-escalation zone” | Violent clashes erupt between HTS and regime forces in western Aleppo and two regime soldiers killed in southern Idlib

Two regime soldiers were shot dead by snipers of a faction of “Al-Fath Al-Mubin” operations room on the frontline of Al-Dana village in Maarrat Al-Nu’man countryside in southern Idlib in the “de-escalation zone.”

On the other hand, violent clashes erupted between regime forces and Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham on Uram Al-Sughra frontline in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The clashes coincided with bombardment with artillery shells and Katyusha rockets on regime positions on the same frontline, amid reports on casualties.

Similarly, regime forces fired artillery shells and rockets on positions nearby Kafr Ammah and Kafr Taal villages in the western countryside of Aleppo, but no casualties have been reported. This coincided with flights by reconnaissance drones over the region.

Since early 2024, SOHR has documented 127 operations in the “de-escalation zone,” including attacks by ground forces, gunfire by snipers, bombardment and drone attacks, which left 142 combatants and civilians dead. In addition, these operations left over 56 combatants and 54 civilians, including six children, injured.

The fatalities can be distributed as follows:

  • 15 civilians, including five children and a woman.

  • 90 members of regime forces, including four officers.

  • 32 members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham.

  • Four members of “Ansar Al-Islam” faction.

  • One member of “Jaysh Al-Nasr.”
