ISIS resurgence | Two members of SDF killed in attack on checkpoint in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: Two gunmen of ISIS cells on a motorcycle opened fire directly on members of “Al-Shayhan” checkpoint of SDF in Thebah town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
The attack left two members of the checkpoint dead, while the gunmen fled to an unknown destination.

This comes in light of escalating attacks by ISIS members on positions of SDF during Ramadan.

SOHR has documented 75 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 40 fatalities:
• 27 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
• Three ISIS member.
• Six civilians including a child.
• Four guards working with the Autonomous Administration.

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

• Deir Ezzor: 63 attacks left 19 combatants, one member of ISIS and five civilians including a child dead.

• Al-Hasakah: Six attacks left three combatants, one civilian and two ISIS members dead.

• Al-Raqqah: Six attacks left five combatants and four guards working with the Autonomous Administration dead
