The regime forces fail to retake the control of Al-Qaryatayn and what they lost in Al-Sukhnah Desert and the violent fighting in the desert raise the death toll to about 340 members of the organization and the regime

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continuation of violent fighting between attackers of the members of the “Islamic State” organization on one hand, and the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities on the other, in areas in the desert extended from the west of Deir Ezzor to Al-Sukhnah desert, in addition to the continuous fighting in Al-Qaryatayn city in the south-eastern countryside of Homs, and the SOHR learned that the violent clashes are still continuous between the regime forces and the organization, in which the regime forces aim to retake the control of this city, where the organization infiltrated and pose its control, after successive attacks carried out inside the city, amid the failure of the regime forces to impose their control on the city which is witnessing hit-and-run clashes between groups of the organization inside it and the regime forces, while the regime forces are continuing the attempts to recover Al-Dahik Mountain and Al-Tayba town and other areas they lost in Al-Sukhmah desert, in the counter attack which groups of the organization started on the 28th of September 2017.

These violent clashes which ISIS aimed through them, to retake the control of the areas it lost during the past months and weeks, and to cause the biggest number of casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and scatter their forces in the Syrian desert, resulted in killing more members in the ranks of he both parties and injuring others in with varying degrees of severity, to raise to 336 the number of casualties of in the ranks of he both parties who have been documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, since the 28th of September 2017, until the 3rd of October 2017, in which the death toll rose to 186 members at least of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, including 26 members at least of the Lebanese Hezbollah and about 80 members of the militiamen loyal to the regime forces of Palestinian and Asian nationalities, while the death toll rose to about 150 members of ISIS of who were killed by blowing themselves up by using suicidal belts and by booby trapped vehicles and in artillery and rocket shelling and raids and clashes against the regime forces in the areas where they attacked, where the organization managed to recover Al-Shawla, Kabajeb and the mountain which is overlooking on Al-Sukhnah and other positions and areas where the regime forces managed to advance into, in the areas extended from the west of Deir Ezzor to the south-eastern countryside of Homs, before the regime forces returned to recover most of the areas they lost, while many areas are still witnessing clashes of hit-and-run between the both parties.

And also information has received to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights the regime forces brought military reinforcements of supplies and vehicles, to the western desert of Deir Ezzor, and the area extended from the west of Deir Ezzor to Al-Sukhnah and on Damascus – Deir Ezzor Road, in order to increase securing Damascus – Deir Ezzor Road, against possible attacks by the organization during the next days and weeks, and not to repeat the script of the attack witnessed on the this road during the past days, as this road is considered the main artery of Deir Ezzor, in which on the 10th of September 2017, the regime forces managed to open the main road coming from Damascus, and the operation of lifting the siege was carried out on 3 stages the first was to lift the siege on the Brigade 137, then lifting the siege of Deir Ezzor Military Airport and the bloc of neighborhoods related to it, and the third stage was to reach the western entrance of Deir Ezzor city at the area of Panorama area after taking the control of Damascus – Deir Ezzor Road.
