The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

More than 1000 citizens were killed by the regime forces and the warplanes during about 7 weeks of targeting the Eastern Ghouta by more than 2250 raids, shells and missiles

Rif Dimashq Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the regime forces are continuing their military operations in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored intensive rocket shelling this morning the 30th of December 2017, in which the regime forces shelled about 70 shells on separated areas in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, where 2 shells fell on Kafr Batna town, which killed a man and injured two others, a shell targeted an area in Misraba town, which killed a man and injured 5 others including a citizen woman, other 14 shells targeted places in Hamouriyah city and the towns of Hazrma, Al-Nashabiyah and Otaya, and 4 shells targeted evenly areas in Saqba and Douma cities, which caused material damage, while the violent clashes have been continuing since after the midnight of Friday – Saturday, in areas inside the Vehicle Department and its vicinity near Harasta city, between the Islamic movement of Ahrar Al-Sham against the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them, in an a continuous attack by the latter, in conjunction with their targeting to the clash areas and other areas in Harasta and its out skirts by about 50 shells, as well as 2 raids carried out by warplanes this morning on places in Harasta city, which resulted in the injury of 8 citizens including children, and the warplanes also carried out raids targeted areas in the outskirts of Hosh Al-Salihiyah town, while the regime forces fired 6 missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, areas in the outskirts of Al-Nashabiyah town, while the school was suspended in the Eastern Ghouta for fear of the intensive shelling on it.

 

Thus, the death toll has increased to 227 civilians who were killed in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, including 53 children under the age of eighteen, 27 citizen women over the age of eighteen and 4 members of the Civil Defense, since the 14th of November 2017, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the death of 134 citizens including 25 children and 16 citizen women by the raids carried out by the warplanes, while the SOHR documented the death of 93 citizens including 28 children and 11 citizen women due to shelling by artillery, mortar and tanks, as well as shelling by missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the injury of more than 781 persons including tens of children and citizen women, some of whom have amputated limbs and permanent disabilities, while the others are still suffering serious wounds suffering from the lack of the medical staff and the shortage of medicine, as a result of the continuous siege imposed on the eastern Ghouta.

 

And the continuation of shelling, raised the number of the strikes hit the cities and the towns of the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, in which the regime forces targeted Harasta city and Mdira town with the vicinity of the Vehicle Department by more than 1185 shells and missiles believed to be ground-to-ground, which have targeted Harasta and Mdira in the Eastern Ghouta since Tuesday the 14thof November 2017, and the SOHR has also documented that 250 raids at least targeted Harasta city and Mdira town since Tuesday, and the SOHR has also documented 194 raids at least hit the cities of Douma, Arbin and Zamlka as well as other areas in the Eastern Ghouta in the same period, while the number of shells and missiles that are believed to be ground-to-ground, fired by the regime forces and fell on the cities and the towns of Ein Tarma, Jisrayn, Douma, Misraba, Saqba, Hamouriyah, Arbin, Ashari Farms, Beit Sawa, Hazza and Kafr Batna, Al-Marj area, Zamlka and Al-Nashabiyah, has increased to 635.
