The Kurdish forces launch a counter attacks to restore control over 2 villages to which the Turkish forces and the factions advanced to and the death toll of human losses in Afrin battle rose to 140

The military operation including artillery and aerial shelling in Afrin area is still ongoing in Afrin area, located in the northwestern part of Aleppo province, and the SOHR monitored violent clashes taking place between the rebel and Islamic factions and the Turkish forces against the YPG and the Self-Defense in areas in the north and west of Afrin, where the clashes are concentrated in 10 areas at least extending from Qastal Jindo area in the northeast of Afrin to Hamam area in its southwest, passing through the districts Bolbola, Rajo and other districts in Jundayras district, and the SOHR monitored that the “Olive Branch” Operation Forces managed to advance in two villages in the northern countryside of Afrin. They are the village Abodan and another nearby village, while there are attempts to control two villages by the Kurdish forces operating in Afrin.

These clashes coincided with ongoing artillery and aerial shelling on the clash area in the western and northern countryside of Afrin, and the clashes caused mote causalities in the ranks of both parties, where it rose to at least 47, the members of the YPG and the Self Defense, while it rose to at least 52, the members of the rebel and Islamic factions within the “Olive Branch” operations, in addition to 4 soldiers of the Turkish forces, who were killed during the clashes that begun on the 20th of January, 2018, and the SOHR monitored more human losses in the ranks of both parties, which may increase the death toll.

Photos by the SOHR show the living conditions of civilians in Afrin area, amid ongoing artillery and aerial shelling within the “Olive Branch” operation, which has been ongoing since the 20th of January 208, and claimed the lives of more than 31st civilians including 12 children and women, and left tens of injured people.
