Clashes with gang of kidnappers in Al-Quraya town leaves ten members of local factions dead in Sweida

SOHR eyewitnesses have reported that ten members of local factions were killed in Sweida and others were injured, while four members of gang were killed in violent clashes near Al-Qurya town in rural Sweida, after the gang attempted to kidnap people from the town of Al-Quraya.

SOHR sources said earlier that a ringleader blew himself up with a suicide vest after being besieged by the factions of Suwayda, injuring three members of the factions.

The ringleader is one of the most wanted and he is from the town of Al-Quraya and works with a group of Suwayda’s residents and rural Daraa. Search warrants was issued against him while his father issued a statement disowning him because of his actions, which do not represent the good morals and values of Jabal al-Arab’s people.

On the other hand, sporadic clashes took place on the outskirts of Al-Quraya town between kidnapping gangs and local factions in Sweida, while dozens of armed people from Jabal al-Arab arrived to support the local factions.

The incident led to heightened security tension in areas in rural Sweida and Bosra al-Sham, as well as gunmen build-up of both sides.

The Syrian Observatory has monitored today clashes with machine guns between regime forces and local factions in Sweida province on one side, and armed groups from Bosra al-Sham on the other. The clashes followed an infiltration attempt by the armed group near the town of Al-Quraya. The gunmen targeted a civilian car, killing one person and injuring two others.
