Idlib | HTS sabotages public and private facilities for getting scrap

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham have taken apart water pipes of water purification station in Ta’oum town, east of Idlib, and take them to warehouses in Binnish and other border areas for selling them as scrap.

 

Meanwhile, other HTS members demolish public properties, south of Aleppo-Latakia highway, for selling the steel they extract form the ruins.

 

For doing such work, HTS exploits the poor unemployed young people in return for inconsiderable wages. Several buildings have been already destroyed in western Idlib near the administrative border with Hama province.

 

On April 6, SOHR sources said that members of “Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham” and other factions have dug up a part of the road between Badama and Al-Hamboushia towns, west of Idlib, in order to extract copper cables and landline phone wires.

 

SOHR sources reported the previous day that members of HTS and other factions looted several houses in Ma’arat al-Na’asan town in Idlib countryside. They also stole motorcycles, copper cables, agricultural equipment, and looted a bakery, the town’s dispensary and the local council building.

 

A few days earlier, Reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that HTS offered what remained of Zayzun thermal power plant as scrap in a public auction in Idlib.

 

On the other hand, members of the Turkistan Islamic Party were digging and extracting metal pipes from Sahl al-Ghab area in Hama countryside, near the administrative border with Idlib province.
