Arsons in Al-Hasakeh | Fires devour about 10,000 donums of agricultural land in western countryside

SOHR activists say that the fires devoured agricultural crops in Tal Half, Abu Jaloud and Mabrouka in Al-Hasakeh countryside.

According to Observatory sources, some 10,000 donums were turned into ashes in the western countryside of Al-Hasaka during the day.

A large fire also broke out in the villages of Um Ushbeh and Al-Assadiya, which are on the frontlines between the areas held by SDF and areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions in countryside of Al-Hasakeh province. Meanwhile, Turkish forces and proxy factions did not allow fire crews to approach.

On the other hand, the fires spread to the area of Al-Kasra-Abu Racine junction, on the road of Al-Derbasiya-Ras al-Ain. Fire crews intervened and managed to contain the fire in this area, and in the village of Salam Alik in Al-Derbasiya countryside, where fire crews were able to extinguish it.

SOHR activists have reported that one civilian died and another injured while trying to extinguish fires in agricultural crops in SDF-held village of Al-Assadiya near the frontlines with the areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions.

The area near the frontlines is witnessing successive fires which quickly spread to adjoining areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored today the outbreak of new fires in countryside of Tal Tamer and Abu Rasin (Zarkan), north of Al-Hasakeh. The fires spread from the agricultural land of Um al-Kif to the villages of Bab al-Khair, Al-Assadiya and Um Ushba in the northern countryside of Tal Tamer, causing significant damage to citizens’ property, while no one was able to contain and extinguish the fires.

On May 24, civil sources informed the Syrian Observatory that members of the Turkish-backed factions continue to set crops and agricultural projects on fire in countryside of Tal Tamer. Locals saw them committing arsons in the villages of Al-Qasimiyah, Um al-Khair and other areas in countryside of Tal Tamer.
