Lack food oversight in HTS-controlled areas | Nearly 150 people suffer from food poisoning in Idlib

SOHR sources say that about 150 people got food poisoning today in Idlib city after eating fast food meals from a restaurant in the city. SOHR sources added that the restaurant uses expired materials and rotten meat.

On the other hand, oversight over food is absent at restaurants and shops that sell foodstuffs with the absence of the Salvation Government’s role and its institutions, which are only collecting taxes.

On May 13, Syrian Observatory activists documented cases of food poisoning in refugee camps in the north of Idlib.

Nearly 40 civilians, including children and women, were transported from the camps of Faraj Allah, Al-Zaytoun and Al-Tawheed in Killi in northern Idlib, to hospitals and medical centers, as they suffered from food poisoning after having Iftar meals presented by charitable organizations and associations.

On May 12, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that tens of cases of food poisoning in a refugee camp in northern Idlib arrived at hospitals and medical centers in the past few hours.

Over 65 displaced people mostly children and women in “Re’ayat Al-Tufolah” refugee camp were hospitalized, as they suffered from food poisoning after having Iftar meals presented by a charity

SOHR sources said that the food was prepared in early morning, put in plastic plates and distributed later to the displaced people in the camp.
