Hours after the largest attack on the housing of Al-Omar Oilfield…SDF and the International Coalition intensify their positions along ISIS enclave in the east of the Euphrates

Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights received information reporting that the Syria Democratic forces and the International Coalition changed their positions in the vicinity of the enclave which is controlled by the “Islamic State” organization, and intensified their presence along the contact areas between the SDF and the organization, in the vicinity of ISIS last enclave at the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, within the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor countryside, after posts in the area of Al-Baghuz Tahtani adjacent to the Syrian – Iraqi border, were evacuated, following shelling by tens of shells which targeted areas in Al-Bo Badran village within the abovementioned enclave.

This movement comes within the preparations for the wide-scale military operation by the International Coalition and the SDF, in order to completely end the presence of the organization from the east of the Euphrates, and hours after a violent attack which targeted important positions of the International Coalition and the SDF in the area of Al-Omar Oilfield, where the Syrian Observatory published today morning, Saturday the 18th of August 2018, that al-Omar field which the largest oilfield in Syria and located in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, is witnessing an alert situation by the Coalition Forces and the Syria Democratic Forces, against the backdrop of the attack by “infiltrators” during the past hours by members of the “Islamic State” organization on the field, which is the largest military base of the International Coalition Forces in Syria, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: at least 20 “infiltrators” of the “Islamic State” Organization attacked last night the largest military base of the International Coalition in Syria, starting from Thiban towards the housing of the oilfield which includes the International Coalition Forces, and in which prominent leaders of the Syria Democratic Forces led by the commander-in-chief of the Syria Democratic in Forces Deir Ezzor  Jia Kobani, where the violent clashes continued between the organization’s infiltrators against the International Coalition Forces and the Syria Democratic Forces, since the beginning of the attack by the infiltrators last night until the dawn of today, Saturday, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored warplanes of the International Coalition providing support in repelling the attack, where the warplanes played a major role in ending the attack which was the largest of its kind, since converting al-Omar oilfield to a military base for the International Coalition nearly a year after controlling it, the Syrian Observatory also documented the killing of at least 7 members of the “Islamic State” organization and information about casualties in the ranks of the Coalition Forces and the Syria Democratic Forces, where they are carrying out sweep operations now in search of members of the “Islamic State” organization who might be hiding, amid a major alert in al-Omar oilfield, which contains about 500 members of the International Coalition Forces and the Syria Democratic Forces and also includes training camps, it is worth mentioning that the latter had been able to take control of al-Omar Oilfield in the 22nd of October 2017, to be transformed later into the largest military base in Syria, where it has a large military equipment of missile launchers, anti-warplanes missiles and an airport used by the Coalition.
