Aleppo Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that militants of Turkish-backed factions are imposing large sums of money on Kurdish civilians for handing over their homes they captured.

Meanwhile, “Al-Amshat” faction has imposed $8,000 on a civilian in the village of Karmatlak in Shih area of Afrin countryside for handing over his house, which was captured by the faction in early April.

In the middle of last year, Turkish-backed factions had asked him to pay $8,000 for handing over his house.

According to Observatory sources, the civilian lives in the village’s houses, moving between his friends and relatives, without allowing him to return to his home before paying the money.

Reliable sources have told the Syrian Observatory that “Samarkand Brigade “, which controls the village of Hajj Qassem in the area of Ma’abatli, is blackmailing the residents through the village chief by inviting them to meet in the village center and asking them to pay money under the name of “protecting their property”.
