Afrin | Turkish intelligence releases military police commander

Reliable sources have reported that the Turkish intelligence has released the commander of military police in Afrin city, who is from Al-Rastan city in Homs countryside. He had been arrested a few weeks earlier over fabricated charges of harassment and rape.

According to SOHR sources, the commander of military police in Afrin is very popular among locals, and known for his hostility to many military factions in Afrin which has been clearly shown in his stances against the factions’ attempts of assaulting civilians and looting their properties. Widespread discontented among Turkish-backed factions against the commander led them to fabricate rape accusation for arresting him. The commander was released later after being acquitted.

During the period when the commander was detained, another commander affiliated to the notorious faction of “Suleiman Shah” was assigned as the commander of Afrin military police. The assigned commander has been involved in serious charges, from looting antiquities and civilian properties to extortions and illegally collection of large sums of money.
