Afrin receives 6 bodies of Syrian mercenaries killed in Libya

TRIPOLI – Press sources confirmed on Friday the arrival of 6 bodies of Syrian mercenaries from Libya to the city of Afrin, near the Syrian-Turkish border, noting that their deaths came in a clash among each other in mid-July south of Tripoli, in addition to that 9 other bodies were found in a cemetery in Tarhuna.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated on Thursday that the Turkish government continues to transfer the mercenaries of the Syrian factions loyal to it towards the Libyan West, to participate in military operations alongside the militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

The process of arriving new batches of mercenaries during the past days has coincided with the return of other batches towards Syria after the end of their contracts in Libya.

For his part, the Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, confirmed on Friday that Turkey had transferred a new batch of Syrian mercenaries to the city of Misurata.

Al-Mismari pointed out that it was a blatant challenge to the international demands for calm and a cease-fire, and what Ankara was doing was in violation of Arab and international resolutions that prevent the transfer of mercenaries and foreign fighters to Libya.
