Routine patrols | US forces tour areas around Al-Malikiyyah

SOHR activists have monitored routine US patrol touring surrounding areas of Al-Malikiyyah city, near the Syria-Turkey border in north-eastern Al-Hasakah. This patrol coincides with the tension ad skirmishes between US and Russian forces as each side seek to strengthen its presence in the north-eastern Syria region.

On August 27, SOHR activists reported seeing a US patrol of four armoured vehicles roaming the countryside of Al-Malikiyyah town, near the Syria-Turkey border in the far north-eastern Syria. The patrol set off from the northern countryside of Al-Malikiyyah town and headed to Kasan and Qasr Deeb, then it returned to Al-Malikiyyah town and took the border road to Aalyan area in the town’s western countryside, where the Russian forces start their patrols.

That patrol was conducted just a day after the injury of two US soldiers in a collision between US military vehicles and other vehicles affiliated to the Russian military police.
