Western countryside of Daraa | Two assassinations target member and leader of Russian-backed “Fifth Corps”

Daraa Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored two assassinations in the town of Al-Shajara in western countryside of Daraa. Unknown assailants killed a group leader within the Russian-backed “Fifth Corps”, after being shot dead in front of his home in the town, and a member of the same Corps was killed in gunfire by unknown assailants in the town of Al-Shajara.

This brings the number of attacks and assassination attempts in various forms and methods by detonating IEDs, landmines, booby-trapped vehicles and shootings from last June to date, to more than 751 attacks.

While the number of those who killed and died in the same period has risen to 495 persons, 138 of whom are civilians, including 12 women and 15 children, in addition to 216 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.

93 members of opposition factions were also killed, those who made “settlements and reconciliations” with the regime and became members of regime security services, including former leaders, and 23 members of Syrian militias affiliated to Lebanese “Hezbollah” and Iranian forces, in addition to 22 members of so-called “Fifth Corps”.
