SOHR sources have reported renewed security tension in Al-Qamishli city between regime forces and loyal militiamen on one hand, and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) on the other, as clashes erupted between both sides in Halku area, while both sides were seen on high alert and deployed large number of checkpoints in several areas in the city, amid growing popular anger over the instability in Al-Qamishly city for days.

Where the prisoners were released by both parties.

A day earlier, Syrian Observatory activists monitored security alertness in Al-Qamishli city in Al-Hasakah countryside between the regime-backed “National Defence Forces” (NDF) and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish). This development comes after NDF arrest of a member of Asayish Forces, while Asayish Forces responded by arresting several NDF members after NDF refused to release the Asayish member, despite mediations between the two sides.

Meanwhile, military forces were seen on high alert in several positions in Al-Qamishli city, including Qaddour Beik neighbourhood, Al-Jisr Al-Jadid and the western part of the security zone.

On December 27, reliable sources informed SOHR that Russian forces managed to defuse the tension between regime forces and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Al-Qamishli city, as detainees, arrested yesterday by both sides, have been released.

Syrian Observatory activists had monitored a Russian patrol comprising several armoured vehicles touring Al-Qamishli city this morning, as a part of routine patrols in the region. The new patrol coincided with the growing tension in Al-Qamishli city between the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and regime forces.

On December 26, SOHR sources reported growing tension in the city of Al-Qamishli in Al-Hasakah between regime forces and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) over exchange of arrests by both sides. This tension followed the arrest of several people by regime forces for various charges, including accusations of “belonging to the Autonomous Administration, working in Autonomous Administration’s institutions, and defaulting the compulsory service in regime army”. Meanwhile, Asayish Forces, which dominate most of the city with SDF, responded to the regime’s arrests by arresting members of regime security services.
