Hike of logs prices | Regime forces arrest four civilians for cutting down trees in forests in Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that a military group affiliated to the State Security branch has opened fire on some young men who were cutting down trees in Sadd al-Jabayliya forest to the west of Nawa city in the western countryside of Daraa, which left one young man injured. The military group also arrested four young men during a security operation in the bushes in the area.

This incident comes as winter approaching in light of the increase in prices of fuels and logs, where the price of a Liter of gasoline has reached 3,500 to 5,000 Syrian Liras, while a barrel of gasoline costs 500,000 to 700,000 Syrian Liras.

Moreover, the price of a ton of logs has exceeded 600,000 Syrian Liras. In addition, the price of “Pyrene” produced from the waste of Olive mills has risen to 500,000 Syrian Liras per ton.

A Syrian family spends at least one million Syrian liras for the fuel needed to run a heater or a wood-burner stove during winter at a time when the average of employees’ monthly salaries do not exceed 100,000 Syrian Liras each.
