Ongoing violations | Turkish-backed factions arrest five civilians including woman and minor boy in Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of a civil police patrol arrested two civilians on August 20, one from Korokan Tahtani village and the other from Shikhotka village in Maabatli district of Afrin countryside for “dealing with the former Autonomous-administration,” in order to collect a ransom.

On August 18, a Military Police patrol arrested two women from Deir Sawan in Sharan district in Afrin countryside for unknown charges.

Meanwhile, a Civil Police patrol arrested a minor boy from Arandah village in Sheikh Al-Hadid district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo for “dealing with the former Autonomous-Administration,” demanding that his family pay a ransom of 300 USD for his release.

In Sharan district in Afrin countryside, members of Al-Jabah Al-Shamiyyah faction arrested a resident of the district during the past few days on charges of dealing with the former Autonomous Administration in order to collect ransoms.

On August 23, SOHR activists reported that two residents of Kara baba village in Raju district in Afrin countryside were arrested by members of a patrol affiliated with Al-Sham Corps.

According to SOHR sources, one of the two civilians was arrested while he was returning to his village from Aleppo province for “dealing with the former Autonomous-Administration” in order to collect ransoms.

Meanwhile, during the past days, a civil police patrol arrested two civilians from Jendires district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo, one of whom was arrested for “working in Autonomous-administration institution in Afrin,” while the other civilian was arrested for unknown charges.

Meanwhile, Military Police in Afrin released two civilians, one from Bulbul district and the another from Shirawa district, after nearly five months of arrest, after paying ransoms for their release.
