Deir Ezzor | Couple commits suicide after parents say no to marriage

During the past hours, Al-Jaradhi town has seen two suicides committed by a young man and a girl.

According to SOHR sources, a young man in his 20s shot himself dead this morning at the funeral of his beloved young woman, who had also committed suicide because her family forced her to marry her relative.

SOHR sources added that the girl killed herself on Tuesday in her hometown of Al-Jaradhi in Deir Ezzor countryside, and during her funeral, the young man with whom she had previously agreed to marry, committed suicide by firing a bullet at himself in the plain sight of the people.

It is worth noting that the countryside of Deir Ezzor is dominated by absolute customs and traditions such as the forced marriage of a girl to her cousin, the marriage of minors and others.
