Rampant security chaos | Ex-rebel found dead in mysterious circumstances east of Daraa

Daraa province: This morning, residents found the body of a young man on Damascus-Daraa highway, near Sayda bridge in the eastern countryside of Daraa after being murdered under mysterious circumstances.

The young man is from Tafas city in the western countryside of Daraa.

The dead man was a former member of a local faction in Daraa then struck a reconciliation deal with the Syrian regime in 2018, and did not join any military faction.

Since early 2022, the number of attacks documented by SOHR in Daraa province has risen to 393, which left 332 people dead; and they are as follows:

• 158 civilians, including four women and five children.

• 138 regime military personnel, “collaborators” with security services and members with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

• 22 former fighters who did not join any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals.

• Four ex-ISIS members.

• Seven unidentified people.

• Four militiamen of the Russian-backed 5th Corps.
