Arbi-trary ar-rests | 4th Division ar-rests two displaced persons from Afrin in Al-Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh districts of Aleppo

Aleppo province: A member of a “4th Division” checkpoint stationed on the outskirts of Al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood arrested a resident of Afrin after he was found in possession of 1,500,000 Syrian pounds, seized his car and moved to the Syrian capital, Damascus, for trial.

Moreover, members of the “4th Division” checkpoint in Al-Ashrafieh district of Aleppo province arrested a resident of Jalabal village in Shirawa district after he was found in possession of 3,000,000 Syrian pounds

According to Syrian law, possessing more than 150,000 Syrian pounds is an offence.

On December 18, SOHR activists reported that members of the regime secret bureau arrested a civilian from Basofan village in Afrin countryside near the directorate of agriculture in Aleppo, as the civilian had come to regime-controlled areas to buy some things. A sum of money estimated to be 1,500,000 SYP was found with the civilian, and he was taken to the capital, Damascus, for investigation. According to Syria’s law, possessing such large sums of money is stated as a criminal offence.
