On January 3, Russian forces established new observation points near the Syrian Golan Heights in western Al-Qunaitrah countryside to reduce escalation between Israel and groups working with Lebanese Hezbollah, where these points were set in the villages and towns of Al-Qahtanyah, Be’r Ajam, Bareiqah, Koudna, Al-Mal’aqah, Al-Rafeid, Ghadeer Al-Bustan in western countryside of Al-Qunaitrah countryside.

This came in light of notably increased of escalating between the Syrian resistance for the liberation of Golan and Israel forces, where the Syrian resistance for the liberation of Golan has attacked positions in Golan to which Israel forces have reacted by firing missiles on Syrian territory.
